I’m so excited for this acoustic album, because acoustic is usually so much better! 🙂 Love State Champs, and this song!

There’s a new post coming soon!

New Discovery

I heard of this band awhile ago but I finally took the time to look in to their music, and I have no idea why I didn’t look in to them earlier. This song really got me…and for some reason I really feel like my friend Molly would enjoy it…just listen to the lyrics 🙂

What if…

So I don’t know if I’m weirdo, but something that that pops in my head from time to time is: what if you could only listen to 10 songs for the rest of your life…just one playlist on repeat. If you really think about it that would totally suck, I don’t think I’ve ever had just one favorite song. Usually, I have a couple of songs that I’m obsessed for a little bit and then I move on to different ones. But then again, there are those songs that I could listen to over and over again and they will always be one of my anthems.

So if I were to make my list right at this moment I think my songs would be:

1. Don’t Stop Believing – Journey (a classic, this will never get old)

2. Wagon Wheel – Darius Rucker (I hated this song until last year, it became one of my faves)

3. Oh Well, Oh Well – Mayday Parade

4. Sleeping with a Friend – Neon Trees

5. Forever and Always – Parachute (this song is incredibly sad, but I’m in love)

6. Would You Go with Me – Josh Turner

7. Wherever You Will Go – The Calling (I almost forgot about this song, but so great)

8. Clairvoyant – The Story So Far (one of my ultimate favorites songs)

9. Your Nickel Ain’t Worth My Dime – Sleeping with Sirens (I love my some Kellin Quinn)

10. I Want it That Way – The Backstreet Boys

So there’s my list…it would probably change if I had the opportunity in this unrealistic situation.

A Weekend of Discoveries…

So this weekend I finally enjoyed my first Vans Warped tour! I had a amazing time with some pretty great people! Besides the intense sun, large crowd, and obscene amount of dust, I got to listen to some great music!

So I thought for this post I would give some tips for those of you that plan on attending any sort of all day music festival! So here they are:

1. NEVER, EVER, GO WITHOUT SUNSCREEN! This tip is in all caps because this is beyond important! I, unfortunately, only brought 8 SPF sunscreen and I regret it completely. I’m fried to a crisp, and blistering like crazy! So I learned my lesson. Always bring a strong SPF sunscreen and apply multiple times through out the day!

2. Get a good nights sleep the night before. More than likely you’ll be walking or standing most of the day, and if you’re in the hot sun and in a large crowd, you’re going to be tired. It’s important to get sleep!

3. Eat a decent breakfast! I didn’t eat much before and I didn’t eat anything at all during Warped because I was so hot and dehydrated. Food is always a good plan before a long day! And that leads me to my next tip…

4. DRINK LOTS OF WATER! This is also in all caps because it is extremely important! Not drinking enough can be so dangerous! You don’t want to risk getting sick especially in a large crowd.

5. Make sure you actually enjoy the music that’s going to be played. If you are going to be standing around all day with loud music all around you, you’re going to want to actually enjoy the music. If anything, bring ear plugs to help protect your ears!

6. Bring medication! You never know when a headache will occur! Always be prepared!

7. Don’t be afraid to sit down and take a break! Especially if you’re tired, and hot! You can still enjoy some music if you’re sitting in the grass.

8. Plan, plan, plan! If there’s going to be a lot of bands or groups there, make sure you have an idea of the one’s that you just can’t miss! Some of the time bands are playing at the same times, or their sets overlap…so you might have to decide between the two!

Last but not least…

9. Dress appropriately! Wear the right shoes, especially if you’re going to be walking! Also…if it’s gonna be hot, wear shorts and a tank. If it’s chilly…bring a jacket!

….also consider not wearing sunglasses, you could get some weird tan lines from those (I did.)

I had an amazing time, and I hope that my tips help, and that you all enjoy you’re summer activities.

Just keep plucking

So this summer I have made a pact to myself to finally learn how to play guitar. I’ve always loved music, and I absolutely love to sing…ALL THE TIME (probably too much…just ask my friends). Well last summer I planned to save up the money to buy a acoustic guitar, but my amazing neighbors surprised me with one! So I took on the task of trying to teach myself the basics. Let me tell you…it’s not that easy. I bought books and a DVD, and watched You Tube videos, but I could never get the cords right. I learned about individual notes 9 notes all together. I couldn’t even play those decently. I’m the kind of person that has to be comfortable with my skill level before I can “show off my talent.” I soon just became overly frustrated and gave up, plus there was no room in my new dorm for a guitar anyway.

Sooo before this summer began, I found someone that could actually teach me for real. And thankfully, I found a pretty great teacher. I’ve only had four lessons and I’m already like 10 times better than I was when I was teaching myself. I’m super glad that I decided to continue my adventure with the guitar. Maybe when I get to the right level of comfort, I’ll maybe even post a video…who knows.

I really just want encourage everyone to try learning something new. Whether it’s an instrument, a sport, a form of art, or even just pick up a skill. It’s something that can only pay off in the future! Plus it’s an easy way to express your self!
